Meet the Dentists | Meet the Staff
I enjoy the field of dentistry because I have a strong belief that oral health is important to a person’s overall health. I like meeting new patients and helping them to be pain-free and comfortable. My patients are my priority and I do everything I can to make their dental experience as positive as possible.
Education
Continuing Education
I am committed to staying at the forefront of technology to provide the best care to my patients. I have undergone extensive training in the use of lasers for root canals, sterilization, and Lumineers®.
In the Community
I sponsor many different sports teams here in Alaska such as the Avalanche junior’s hockey team and the professional Arena Football League’s Alaska Wild. I also support many of our local high school sports teams and attend various community health fairs.
Outside the Office
I am originally from Michigan and now live in Wasilla with Melissa and our two dogs, Jack and Keira. In my free time I enjoy fishing, playing the guitar, skiing, scuba diving, and sailing.
I believe that working in pediatric dentistry is the best job in the world. I get to work with kids that keep me on my toes and make me laugh every single day. At work, I get to act like a kid all day long, and it’s a little like being in Never Never Land! What is there not to love about kids?
Education
The education I received not only enables me to be an excellent dentist, it instills confidence in the parents of my patients that I have the knowledge and skills needed to provide thorough and gentle dental care to their children. I attended Montana State University where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree before continuing on to Nova Southeastern University where I received my Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. I completed my pediatric dental residency and received my specialty certificate in Pediatrics from the Lutheran Medical Center/ Southcentral Foundation. I continue my education annually by attending various courses and seminars involving pediatric dentistry.
Outside the Office
I am originally from Beach, North Dakota, and currently live in Big Lake with my family of 32 dogs. I love being outdoors and enjoy mushing, hunting, fishing, and all the other activities that this beautiful area has to offer. I also plan on competing in the 2011 Iditarod!
Pediatric Specialist
I am one of the few pediatric dentists in the Valley. Our office accepts Denali Kid Care up to age 20. We can generally accommodate new patient appointments within a week. I am able to perform oral surgery at Mat-Su Regional Hospital. Please call our office today at 907-357-1628 to schedule a pediatric dental appointment.
Practicing dentistry allows me to help the people in my community improve their oral health and the beauty of their smiles. I believe this is directly related to their confidence level and self-esteem. I love the diversity of my patients, getting to know them and learning about their wild Alaskan lifestyles. Our team is very dedicated and hardworking, and our number one concern is patient care and satisfaction.
Education
My desire to help make a positive difference in people’s lives began when I was in school. I attended the University of Puget Sound where I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Biology. I then continued on to the University of the Pacific in San Francisco where I earned my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. I believe that it is very important to stay on the cutting edge of my field, and I continually update my education through courses and seminars on the newest and best dental treatments.
Outside the Office
I grew up in the Yakima area and have lived in Eagle River for the past three years. I love spending time outside, whether I am fly fishing, skiing, or playing football. I also give privileged information to my favorite patients about my secret fishing spots!
It is always a gift to be able to earn a living while doing something that you truly love. For the past 47 years, I have been able to help the people of my community have beautiful and healthy smiles. It is wonderful to know that they have chosen me to trust with their health. Most of my patients have been in my care for a long time, and I have seen so many families grow up in front of my eyes. I am humbled and proud that my patients express such confidence in me, and it is my goal to never let them down.
A Good Foundation
I have made sure to obtain an education that gives me the knowledge and training to provide the best possible care to my patients. I attended Carroll College in Helena, MT where I got my Bachelor of Science degree in Pre-Med. I continued on to earn my Doctorate of Dental Surgery at Creighton University School of Dentistry. While at Bethesda Maryland Naval Hospital, I attended their Removable Partial Dental School. I have continued my education for the past 40 years through courses and seminars to stay on the cutting edge of dentistry.
Outside the Office
I am a native of Cordova and currently reside in Wasilla. When I’m not in the office I enjoy spending time with my five grown children and the many grandchildren they have given me. I still enjoy down hill skiing in the winter and water skiing in the summer, and I learned to ski back in the days before there were ski lifts, only rope tows! I am a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where I do what I can to help out and have supported The Children’s Place since it first started. Every morning you’ll find me at the pool, swimming 44 lengths, which I’ve done for the past 26 years.
I am committed to treating patients with the highest quality of care and building long lasting relationships based on honesty and trust. I have always enjoyed working with people, and working in the field of dentistry gives me the opportunity to make a wonderful, positive change in the lives of those around me. There is nothing better than helping someone be proud of their smile!

I attended Michigan State University and continued on to the University of Detroit’s Mercy Dental School where I received my Doctorate of Dental Surgery. I am constantly looking to update my knowledge and continue my education to ensure my patients receive the very best, attending seminars and classes on Invisalign® and full mouth reconstruction.
